I have both the Fried, DeCarle, and The Levin Brothers Watch Repair Book.

I recommend the Levin Brothers Book as the best on watch repair.

A lot of the techniques in the Fried Book is no longer recommended, believe it or not.

The Bulova Watch Training manual is by far the best, for hairspring repair and adjusting.

Highly recommended:

"WATCHES" 1971 edition by Clutton & Daniels is a must for collectors of English watches. Excellent historical info and fabulous photos of fabulous watches, plus a new technical section

Bigger and fatter than the 1965 version which is also good.

Here is a good one, shorter than other--many photos

"Collectors' Collection" by Cecil Clutton. All gems from his small (!) collection.

Any interest in more listings?

I do not collect English but these named books with these interesting titles are
luring me to buy some. I figure the next best thing to not owning the watches is to read about them.

This is an important thread for watch collectors and historians; I STRONGLY suggest everyone read and take notice of these important books. If you have a library, these are worth having/reading.

There are also many beautiful pictures of British and continental watches that hound excite everyone.

Last add, occasionally good books pop up in auctions -- if one knows the good ones, they can be bought on the cheap which is like money in the bank!
