As stated by a seasoned long time dealer of credibility, and I quote his words of today from a private club post.
"Well I have to say that this was the most subdued and poorly attended regional I have ever been to (sic). Lots of empty tables.............
Old tired and burnt out faces trying to get rid of what they used to love. The lack of new blood is a real killer.................
The public on Sat was a joke ............ they must be allowed in on the first day or you will not get them to join.............
............there is very little demand outside of Ebay or the auctions........."
How many times do I have to point out this problem---OPEN UP ALL MARTS TO THE PUBLIC FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE EVENT!" And, ADVERTISE these events to the public sector!
AND, DO IT NOW! |

Looks like another "foot dragging" issue--just think of all those ponential new members and future convention participants lost over the years! |

Obviously, you are not too familiar how boards operate--
ON THIS BOARD I HAVE A RIGHT TO BRING UP ISSUES, MAKE SUGGESTIONS AND POINT OUT FAILURES as many times I wish. I am a 51 years member of the golden circle! Respect is a two way street, sir. |
Jon, I think that..."Obviously, you are not too familiar (with) how boards operate-- I listen to you rant from the sidelines and talk about how easy this all should be. I listen. I take your ideas with me not just to the Board but to staff and management. I respect your experience and your views. They are important to this organization. That said, there is a lot to be done. A lot of what needs to be done is not on your agenda. We are understaffed at HQ and the organization is largely run by volunteers. I have spent thousands of dollars of my own money running around the country to BoD meetings, meeting potential donors and showing up at horological events to promote the NAWCC. I have not asked for reimbursement for expenses with one exception when I donated the reimbursement back to the organization. If you think changing the organization is easy or should be fast you are sadly mistaken. Again, Obviously, you are not too familiar (with) how boards operate-- and...Obviously you have no understanding of the concept of respect. |

BTW, I am going to stop answering these rants. I will still listen. I will still bring 149 ideas to the BoD and to the Staff but I know that voicing my opinions doesn't really matter because the listening is just a one way street...so, I am still here but unless for something concrete.... silent for the foreseeable future. |

I AM VERY PLEASED TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE WORKING SO VERY HARD AT YOUR DIRECTOR JOB--I CERTAINLY HOPE THE OTHER MEMEBRS OF THE BOARD ARE AS ENTHUSIASED AND ARE ALSO ROLLING UP THEIR SLEEVES AS YOU. THIS IS A FAR CRY FROM PREVIOUS DIRECTORS.
YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE PIONS ARE NOT AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON EXCEPT WHEN SOMEONE AS YOURSELF TELLS US. WHY ELSE WOULD I "RANT" (AS YOU SAY) SOMEONE HAS TO BRING UP THE ISSUES--WHO ELSE IS ASKING? THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TRANSPARENCY
PROBLEM AT THE NAWCC, AND IS IT IS REFRESHING TO KNOW THIS FAILURE IS BEING IMPROVED ALSO.
ONWARD AND UPWARD! |
